What is JLE PTA? What does JLE PTA do?
PTA is all of us. PTA belongs to everyone, and everyone is welcome. PTA is open to anyone who has an interest in their Supercat's education - parents, guardians, grandparents, caregivers, plus business and community partners. We come together with the shared vision that all students deserve the best possible opportunities for outstanding education and meaningful growth at James Lewis.

Each year JLE PTA works hard to provide our Supercats with an enriched learning experience, as well as events the entire family can enjoy! We would not be able to achieve this without the help of JLE staff, parent support, fundraising efforts and our Community Business Partners! NOTE: It is our sincere hope that the 2021-2022 school year looks more "normal" than last year. Even with the restrictions we faced in 2020-2021, JLE PTA was proud to serve the Supercat community in whatever ways we could, and after last year, we know that this community can get through anything!! Some of the evens listed below may look a little different this year, as we work hard to ensure that all JLE PTA events follow district guidelines to keep our Supercat family safe. Check back often on our JLE PTA main page for new event details!

Here's a few things that JLE PTA traditionally does to support our Supercat community:
- JLE Staff Back to School Breakfast - Staff and Administration are welcomed back to school with a delicious breakfast and a little treat to help them kick off the new school year with a smile.
- Tears and Cheers Breakfast- Kindergarten parents, we understand that this first year of school can be hard. Come cheer or wipe those tears with us and connect with other kindergarten parents on the first day of school!
- Back to School Picnic- Join us as we celebrate another year kicking off with food, music and fun! Hot dogs, chips, drinks are provided complimentary to all JLE families. Students are welcome to play on the playground (with supervision) or have a dance party out front in our parking lot. Don't forget to bring a lawn chair!
- Walk-A-Thon Fundraiser- This annual fall PTA fundraiser is a real Supercat favorite! Students gather pledges from friends & family, then participate in the Walk-A-Thon event held in the parking lot at James Lewis! It is an all-day event with music! Students will participate by grade level during their Special Class time for the day.
- Grandparents/Special Person's Day This event is a fun-filled day for Grandparents (or Special Friends) to join their grandchildren/relative/friend in school for part of the day. They can spend time in the child's classroom, enjoy a concert by the Supercat Singers, eat lunch with their student, visit the Book Fair and have a special photo taken for a momento.
- Trunk or Treat- Decorate your trunk or get dress up in your favorite costume and enjoy a fun filled evening for the whole family! There will be games, costume contests, face-painting, best trunk contest, music, trunk-or-treating, and MORE!
- Staff Meals during P/T Conferences- Snacks and meals are provided for the hardworking JLE staff during fall Parent/Teacher Conferences. With these extra long work days, they deserve a little TLC!
- Halloween Parties- PTA Room Parents coordinate and host Halloween parties for each grade level. Each class is assigned a special time to enjoy games, snacks and some spooky good fun! Don't forget to join us for the JLE Halloween Costume Parade!
- Skate Nights at Rink Ratz- Join us at Rink Ratz Rollerskating Rink for an evening of fun at a discounted price. Come and enjoy some old fashioned fun with your friends!
- Escape Room- Enjoy a night of STEM-inspired challenges as you solve puzzles with your team to "escape" JLE! New surprises await around every corner as your team races to the finish line!
- Santa Shop/Meet Santa- Each class gets a chance to visit the Santa Shop to purchase gifts for family members & friends during the holidays. Items range from $1-$5. Students absolutely LOVE getting to purchase items and have them wrapped by our volunteers. On Thursday night of Santa Shop week, all JLE Supercats are invited to enjoy a holiday concert by the Supercat Singers, as well as a special visit from Santa himself!
- JLE Dance- Back by popular demand! This has quickly become one of our most popular annual events! Get fancy or be casual, but bring your dancing shoes!! Flowers are available for pre-order or a few are available that night. Concessions, photo booth, and DJ dance party make it a fun night for all ages!
- Valentine's Day Parties- PTA Room Parents coordinate and host Valentine's Day parties for each grade level. Each class is assigned a time to enjoy games, snacks, and a special community service project!
- Family Craft Night- This new event was a huge hit in February 2020! JLE PTA hosted a DIY Paint Night, with students and their families becoming artists for an evening as they followed an instructor demonstrating how to create an original work of art on canvas. This event is sure to return in the future!
- Pastries With Parents- Join us for complimentary donuts, coffee, juice and milk before school in the cafeteria. There's no better way to start your day than a special breakfast with your Supercat!
- SuperCat Dash- Our spring PTA fundraiser is the biggest Supercat bash of the year! The Supercat Crew takes over the Blue Springs High School track for one evening for a 5k Fun Run/Walk. This event also features family games, sponsor booths, live emcee with music from the broadcast booth, and the SUPER RAFFLE with tons of fabulous prizes!
- JLE Staff Appreciation Week- This week is dedicated to showing our staff just how much we value the work they do. With a different theme each year, the PTA is always looking for extra support for this very important and fun week for the staff.
- Track & Field Day Organized by our fantastic PE teacher, the PTA supports this big day with many volunteers to run all of the stations/games, as well as providing water and snacks for students.
- Kindergarten Beach Day- This is an extra special day to help all Kindergarten students celebrate the end of their first year of school. This all-day event is spent outside playing water games and enjoying time with classmates and teachers.
- 5th Grade D.A.R.E. Graduation- Graduating from 5th grade and the D.A.R.E program is a huge accomplishment! 5th Grade parents plan a big celebration with the support of PTA to help the 5th students recognize all that they have accomplished at James Lewis. Once a Supercat, Always a Supercat!!
- Carnival- Students and Teachers love this day! It is a great way close out a fantastic school year! We are thrilled that Carnival is held during the school day, ensuring all students are able to enjoy the games and fun with their classmates and teachers.
- Arts Partners Field Trips - PTA helps support grade-level specific field trips that are also partially funded by the school district. These field trips are incredible opportunities for our Supercats to experience the importance of a wide variety of Arts in Education.
- Grade-Level Field Trips - Each grade level designates and organizes their own age appropriate field trips throughout the school year. The PTA is proud to help provide grade level field trip shirts that help keep students safe while they explore new adventures that take learning outside the traditional classroom.
